Good Bye First Grade

Two hours tomorrow and then we’re DONE with the 2010/2011 school year. For the first time in 13 years, I cried while giving my little goodbye speech. I was trying to tell them how I had enjoyed being their teacher and I was so proud of all the hard work we had done and they should be sure to visit me next year when they were big second graders. The tears just came. I was surprised that some of them cried a little too. These children were with me through the best and worst weeks of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very ready to see them go, but I’ll never forget them.

Three injections tonight. I’m coming, babies, I’m coming.

  1. Wow! You must be getting pretty good at both photography and shots to do them both at the same time! Way to go!Sometimes those kids that are there with you through thick and thin are the ones that make the biggest impact on you {and vice versa}. I know that I would be VERY proud and happy to have you as my kids' teacher! {I'm cheering and praying for the little babies over here!}

  2. Wow, a close to a school year and a new start all in the same day. You must be really feeling lots of emotions. I am proud of you for arriving back to the baby bandwagon, I know that doesn't come with lots of emotional ups & downs. It's been a long year for you, I can't wait for you to be doing happy dances again!

  3. Did you give yourself a shot and shoot at the same time?? How the hell did you do that? If you can do that then your babies are gonna be a walk in the damn park! Thank you, on behalf of all of us that went to school and had a cool teacher like you. I remember the teacher that made an emotional end of year speech (quite the surprise since he was a really strict teacher) and it had a tremendous impact. Happy Summer!

  4. Ouch! I have no idea how you photographed yourself while giving yourself a shot. I'm pretty sure I can't even get to the giving myself a shot point 😉

  5. WOw! One day ahead of me for school to finish! Far ahead of me in other things. I understand about being ready to let these kids go but knowing that they were an important part of this year also. I've had plenty of past experience where the kids were so gentle with me when I was so broken. I'm thinking of you and all those shots.
